Adjusting to the Table and the Players.
Any good poker player is going to have to learn to adapt to the table they are at. This will change from table to table. You will have your basic winning poker strategy which isn’t going to change that much. Basically you are talking about making adjustments to fit the table you are on. That is why one of the best things to do when you sit down at a table so to sit out for a few hands and see how the table is. Is it tight or aggressive, loose or somewhere in between. You need to find out so you can adjust to the type of poker that is being played. You will find some poker table where a 3 times the blinds raise will get everyone to fold and another poker table where a 3 times the blinds raise will get you laughed at. Usually things don’t go to far one way or the other so the adjustments are minor however there are times where you will sit at a table where things go to the extreme one way or another. So if the table is very tight it is going to be easy for you to steal blinds and to dictate the action at the table. This makes it easy to get away with being aggressive and stealing and bluffing at the right times. On the other hand if your table is loose you will find that bluffing may sometimes be almost impossible and stealing the blinds as well. Here you want to get in some cheap flop if you can and hope you hit a good hand or play your premium hands only and limp in with a good hidden hand. Chances are on a table like this if you hit a hidden hand you will get paid off big time. Next time you are sitting at the poker table sit out a few hands and watch the action and determine if the table is tight or loose and adjust your poker strategy accordingly. Adjusting to the table will become easier and easier as you start paying attention to it. This is a must for any good poker player to learn. To win consistently you have to learn to adjust to the poker table you are sitting at. You ever play in a multi table tournament and you are doing great on one table and just can get the job done on the new table. Think about adjusting. How is this table different form the one I was just on and what should be my strategy against these players
If you have any advice or different tips on how to adjust to the poker table you are on please post it in our poker forum.
