I am going to go and play in a poker tournament at Coushatta in Kinder LA this week. It is a tournament being put on by a poker league her locally. I have not been at this poker room so I am curious to see how it is. I plan on maybe playing some limit holdem and maybe a bit of no limit depending on how it goes. We will be staying at the Isle of Capri Casino on Sunday night so I will check out that poker room too. Will give an updated review of these room and their games when I get back. Wish me luck

Coushatta Casino in Kinder Louisiana
I went and played in a tournament at the Coushatta Poker Room in Louisiana. We went down the night before and actually stayed at the Isle of Capri Casino instead of heading straight for Coushatta. The poker room at the Isle of Capri was so so. The room itself was not so bad however the buffet was 18 bucks and really sucked. The players at the Isle of Capri Casino were mostly comprised of blue collar workers and the gambling was fast and loose and lots of drunks were at the table. granted it was 1 in the morning by that time. The Isle over all was ok but the atmosphere was much nicer at Coushatta. We went down to Coushatta the next morning after having to fight with the girl at the Inn at the Isle just to get a breakfast comp after playing their all night. So after breakfast we went on to Coushatta. The poker room at the Coushatta Casino was really nice. Its a god size room with comfortable chairs and nice tables. The service was excellent and just the general ambiance was much more Vegas like and upscale then at the Isle. I played in the poker tournament and busted out fairly early. Kind of a mix of perhaps making a bad call after a guy called me to the river to bust my trips. In hind site I probably should have played it safe and folded. Anyhow after busting out of the tournament I decided to play some 3 6 12 limit holdem. I bought in for $80 bucks and went up to about $180. The play at Coushatta was much better then at the Isle. Still typical chase it down limit holdem poker. I played for about 12 hours there and loved every minute of it. The buffet there was comped for 4 hours of playtime and was excellent. They had a variety of food from Chinese to seafood. Next time I will skip the Isle and go straight for the goods and hit the Coushatta Casino. One of the things I didn’t care for is that you can not get much in the way of comps for playing poker. If you play for every 4 hours you get a food comp and that is all you can get. Also if you don’t log out every 4 hours you wont get the comp you will be getting one comp. Also the food comp is only good for two days. So you wont be getting a free room or anything like that. That being said they do offer some free poker tournament play for players. For example they had a tournament on Monday where if you play 3 hours of poker before the tournament you got the entry fee waived and an extra 300 in chips. So they do try and offer some incentives. I know from the casino perspective casino poker is not their big money maker so they try and get you to play more table games and slots or roulette. If you get a chance and want to go play poker in Louisiana I would definitely recommend Coushatta.
