Bear with me.

People talking about hand histories and checking through "Poker Tracker". Could someone fill me in. I have a feeling that this could really help me but that I'm lost in the dark. Thanks

Most online poker room have a place where you can download your hand history. I am guessing Poker tracker has that feature. All it basically does is show you the kind of starting hands you are playing and some will show what kind of return you will get on playing them. Starting hand requirements are also not a set in stone type of a deal. They depend on the table you are playing on also here is where you get in to different styles of poker. Like loose, tight and aggressive. Most poker players fall in to one of these categories. A loose player plays too many hands. A tight player plays fewer hands and is more selective with his starting hands. A an aggressive player is a player that will bet on the flp with a hand or even without one. Will bluff bet draws that kind of thing. Now Aggressive is more of a designation that is used on flop play. The other two tight or loose are more related to preflop play, however they do translate over in to flop play.
Here are the extreme cases: A calling station is usually Loose / Loose meaning this type of player plays lots of hands and will not fold when he should this is the type of guy that will call with pocket 2s on a board of A1010JQ. The name pretty much describes the attitude. Next you have Maniacs they tend to fall in to the Loose / Aggressive category. These types of players will play lots of hands preflop and will bet anything or with nothing like they got Aces in their hands. Then you have Rocks these are tight / tight meaning these players will only play lock hands like Aces, Kings, Queens, Jacks and maybe tens and lower down to 88 they will limp in and then only bet on the flop if they have a strong hand. When a rock bets get out unless you have a monster. Then your last type is tight / aggressive which is the ideal style. Tight / Aggressive means you paly fewer hands and are selective with your starting hands and when you do enter a pot you play your hands aggressively and smart. This kind of went beyond what you are asking but the only real reason to find out your hand history is to figure out which of these you are and make the proper adjustments to optimize your style. All of these styles have advantages and disadvantages.

Can you tell me what the purpose is of tracking your hands. Just curious, have never done this. But would like to know the advantages of doing so.

If you are playing for fun it really doesn’t matter, however if you want to see if you are a winning player this helps evaluate that also if you want to learn about what hands you make money on and what hands you don’t then this also becomes important. If you play just to play I wouldn’t worry about it.

Most online places which you play have statistics recorders where they kind of record your stats and rank it amongst other players. I forget the top ones which have it, but I've seen it before.

Ok I see what you are talking about and how it evaluates what is going on. I will have to remember this site and check with it as it could help me learn more from the game.
