Poker Tell- Hands Shaking.
The shaking hands is a poker tell that has sometimes been completely misread. Some people think that when the hands shake it is a sign of weakness or fear. This has probably cost those of you that thought this poker tell was because the guy didn't have a strong hand some money. Usually when someone's hands are shaking when they bet is a sign for a strong hand and not a weak one. Their nerves are running so high they cant believe the hand they have so they usually try to conceal the shaking but cant. Say for example that someone calls your bet and the turn brings a possible fh or maybe a straight flush or quads. A really big hand. All of the sudden they bet and when the player pushes his chips in his hands are shaking. This would indicate that this person has just made a strong hand. This poker tell is actually very reliable. Their are times whe this poker tell does not hold true and that is when someone's hands always shake. I sat at the table with a guy not too long ago that just had shaky hands. Every hand he picked up his hands shook. So there it doesn't mean anything. Usually this tell is reliable but can be deceptive. For example I played in a hand not too long ago. This was an extremely loose game. Blinds were 25 and 50 and we may be on the third hand of the poker tournament. I am under the gun with Ace Ace. So I raise to 300. I get 3 callers and the button reraises to 500. I reraises to 1500 and still get 3 callers after the reraises including the button. The flop comes J 5 9 rainbow. but since I have 3 people in the pot I figure a good size bet is required. I bet 2000 which is a really big bet since we only started with 5000 in chips. Everyone folds the buttons hands shake uncontrollably as he pushes all in. Now I have played with this guy before and I have seen him do this when he has a hand. I also know that this with this guy could just mean he has Aj and flopped top pair and since there is a lot of money in the pot he is going to react this way. Still a bit unnerving. I call he flips over QJ. Whew I am relieved. But the tell was their and putting it in perspective it was right their was a lot of money in the pot and he had top pair so too him this was a strong hand. Now there is another example of a person I play with that has this poker tell. I have observed he usually doesn't do this with a top pair but with trips or two pair or something solid. I raised preflop with AQ and he smooth called the flop came K10A3. I bet the pot this player sits there for a second and as he reaches for his chips he is shacking to where he actually dumped one of his stacks over. He reraises to double my bet. I folded he ended up showing me the Straight on the flop anyways as he turn over QJ. So this poker tell can save you lots of lost money and it is fairly accurate because it is a involuntary shacking that the person will try and control. With most of your better players it may just be a slight shacking for a second before they get it under control. So watch for this poker tell and let me know what you have found in our poker forum. Now just as with anything nothing is a 100 percent thing. However if you notice the shaking and you aren't in the hand and there is a showdown remember what the hand was and act accordingly. There are a few people that will shake when they are weak but it is not very common. Think about it if someone is bluffing they are putting on an act of strength so they are going to try and control their emotions and not show any weakness.
