Online Poker tells are far and few in between. Online Poker is becoming the most popular method to play poker these days. With the convenience of an online poker room many players have decide to play online form their own homes instead of having to travel hours to get to a local casino. Online Poker is still the same game, however it has some unique attributes. Some are advantages and others are definite drawbacks. One of the advantages of playing online is that you can find a game 24/7 with out even leaving your house. It’s perfectly legal to play online so there is no need to deal with an underground poker room if gambling is not legal in your area. You will usually see almost twice as many hands in online play versus real life poker in a casino. Most online casino operators offer a poker room these days so it will be easy to find one to play at. The drawback to online play is that you do not get to see your opponent so it is easier for people to bluff. No one is staring them down or seeing them sweat it out. The one other draw back is your internet connection. I have lost mine in the middle of a game with lots of money at stake. There is nothing like coming back and finding you lost because you got disconnected. Online poker tells really tend to fall in to the category of betting patterns more then anything else. Since you can look at your opponent and pick up any tells. His betting becomes more important.. The usual strong means weak and weak means strong still kind of applies. What this means is simple if a guy raised preflop and the flop comes 5 9 2 rainbow and he makes a strong bet he is usually trying to run you off. Or lets say he raises preflop and the flop comes QJQ and he makes a small bet or checks you bet he then reraises. He acted weak to try and trap. Many of these situations will arise. In spotting an online poker tell you are really going to have to study your opponent. You are going to have to watch and see how he handles his big hand in order to establish a pattern. If you see a discrepancy then you will have a tell on the guy. Lets say he always bets his big hands small all of the sudden he starts betting like mad this should tell you he may have a hand but it is likely not a strong hand and he wants everyone to go away. These are the kinds of tells you are going to have in online poker. Some poker players think the time it takes for a guy to respond online is a tell. This is a big unreliable because if the guy is on a slow connection it may jump up and down and you aren’t going to get reliable information, however if you see him thing a lot and then see what he has you can play accordingly. In online poker the body language and different tells are eliminated form the game so now betting patterns are going to be your major online poker tell.
